New board
EURAVIA Leuven is pleased to announce its new board for the upcoming academic year. A group of eight dedicated students are eager to contribute to the continued success and growth of our student association. We are confident that this team, with strong motivation and diverse talents, will bring innovative ideas and effective leadership to our association.

Recap Year ‘23-’24.
After a decline in activities during the corona pandemic, EUROAVIA Leuven lost its presence among students. Dissatisfied with the lack of aerospace related events outside of class, four motivated students decided to bring new life to the organization. This is an overview of our first year back.
We started off strong with our Kick-off quiz that attracted almost 70 participants and a gliding initiation by LUAC. We continued with a lecture on Moon Missions and ended the first semester with a company visit to Safran. After the winter break, we first visited TUI. Next was the very successful Space in Flanders event in collaboration with the STAR research group. Our president and secretary joined the Lustrum of 65 years of EUROAVIA and the EMEAC congress in Istanbul during the easter holiday for a taste of the international side of our association. We concluded a very successful year with our Member Night.
We are grateful for our president Mathis Vandevorst, who led us through this post-COVID revival year. His determination was one of the factors that contributed to our success. Vice-president Mattias Vermeersch had an equally important role and took care of the public relations. Lars Verboven enriched the board as secretary, taking care of official matters. Lastly, the connection with companies was made by Milan Adams. We also would like to thank Catherine Mertens for her help in the second semester. Our dynamic board was the key to a successful year.
We can look ahead to a bright future for EUROAVIA Leuven! With the next board being announced in July, the organization will continue to improve the quality of its events and grow to new horizons.

Space in Flanders
Interested in what Flanders has to offer in the space industry? 🚀🪐 We are inviting special guest prof. Vandepitte, space companies Redwire and Arcsec, the Aether student team and researchers from the LMSD - STAR research group at the KU Leuven to give an insight into their work. 🧑🚀 Opportunities for students are discussed as well. Come visit us at the free reception afterwards!
The event takes place March 25th, from 19h until 21h in auditorium K 00.06 and will be in English.

Company visit TUI
Next semester on 29 February, EUROAVIA Leuven is visiting TUI’s engineering and maintenance facility in Zaventem. If the visit is not fully booked, non-members will get the chance to join next semester.

Lecture Moon Missions
After 50 years, our neighbor, the moon, is once again becoming a popular destination for space missions. The Artemis missions will visit the moon again. India and Russia have also set their sights on the celestial body with Chandrayaan 3 and Luna 25.
We invited Koen Geukens to give a lecture about the latest missions. As Space Working Group Leader at the Association for Astronomy, he is well aware of the latest developments in space travel.
Afterwards we will provide a free reception where attendees can talk about the lecture.

Take Off Quiz
How strong is your knowledge of aerospace? Come test yourself on our quiz in a team of 3, 4 or 5 people! As tradition, EUROAVIA Leuven provides a free pizza and drink per team at a reasonable price.
At this take-off event we will also present the calendar for 2023 and provide insight into our association.

Safety aspects of electric aircraft
In collaboration with IE-net, we are organizing a lecture on the safety aspects of electric aircraft. EUROAVIA members receive a discount code to follow for free.

Gliding initiation
We are already offering a first activity for our members. In collaboration with LUAC, we are organizing a gliding initiation. This activity will take place on Saturday, October 7, with a reserve date of October 14 in case of unfavorable weather. The price for participation is €40.
